Spring Break 2009 in San Miguel de Allende

Important:  This page contains the exciting schedule we’ve planned for Spring Break 2009.  Below that, are the suggested Travel Arrangements.

Spring Break 2009 Schedule:

Day 1 – Monday, March 16

·        You will arrive at the Leon Airport (BJX) and be taken to San Miguel for a Welcome Reception where you will meet your Home Hosts, in whose house you will be staying.

·        That evening, you will attend a gala Welcome Dinner at one of San Miguel’s most beautiful homes.

Day 2 – Tuesday, March 17

·        In the morning you’ll go on a walking tour of San Miguel’s historic center.  San Miguel was designated a World Heritage site this year and on this tour, you’ll see why!

·        Next you’ll attend a delicious comida (luncheon) in another fabulous home.

·        This evening, you’ll attend a lovely cocktail party with many of our Board members.

Day 3 – Wednesday, March 18

·        In the morning, you’ll take a ride into the country to visit some of the villages to which we provide medical and dental services.

·        Your lunch on this day will be at a lovely home in the countryside near the villages you visited.

·        We’ve cleared the afternoon for you to shop at some of San Miguel’s wonderful stores!

Day 4 – Thursday, March 19

·        In the morning, we’ll tour three extraordinary homes and gardens.

·        In the evening, we’ve got yet another party for you in yet another extraordinary home!

Day 5 – Friday, March 20

·        This is the morning that you will visit and shop in a nearby town.  Lunch will follow your expedition.

·        This evening you’ll attend another cocktail party and then be free to walk the gardens in the Centro.

Day 6 – Saturday, March 21

·        This is the day that we call Options Day and you can choose from a cooking class, a jewelry tour or a Self-Guided Tours of Folk Art, Churches, or more jewelry.

·        This evening it will be time to say goodbye to your new found friends at our elegant Farewell Dinner.

Day 7 – Sunday, March 22

·        In the morning, you’ll be taken back to the Leon Airport (BJX) for your return flight to the US.

TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS:

Please make your travel plans to the Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico airport.  (The abbreviation for the Leon airport is BJX, and make sure you provide your travel agent with this information because there are two "Leon" airports in Mexico - and we want you to end up at the right one!)

You can fly to and from there from Houston on Continental or from Dallas on American Airlines.  Here are the suggested flights you’ll want to book from Houston and from Dallas.

Transportation fees to and from the airport have been included in the price of the event.

Continental:
               Monday, March 16, 2009
               Depart Houston on Continental Flight #2184 at 11:30 AM.
               Arrive in Leon, Mexico at 12:49 AM.

               Sunday, March 22, 2009
               Depart Leon, Mexico on Continental Flight #1875 at
              11:50 AM.  Arrive in Houston at 2:54 PM. 

American Airlines:
               Monday, March 16, 2009
               Depart Dallas on AA #3737 at 9:50 AM.  Arrive in
               Leon, Mexico at 11:20 AM.

               Sunday, March 22, 2009
               Depart Leon on AA #3732 at 12:05 PM.  Arrive in
               Dallas at 3:25 PM.

Important:  If you do not arrive on the specified flights, you’ll need to pay for the cost of transportation to and from San Miguel yourself.
